Recently I hit a low. I was comatose. Then, I saw lightening strobing the sky, and thunder started booming. So, I went into the forest.
My intentions were unclear to me as I drove through the flooded back roads onto the narrow dirt route leading into the darkness of green canopies.
I walked and walked until I came upon a rock covered in moss and I sat down. The storm came down on me and the roaring of thunder shook the ground.
I thought out loud, “whatever happens to me in here I deserve”. And as I said it the sun came out. All of a sudden the water on my face started to roll off and it was quiet.
There I sat, wet, and confused. Why was the sun shining as I had just accepted my fate of being struck down, a tree branch falling on me, or a bear mauling? Didn’t I deserve that?
Mother Nature disagreed. She said to me, “You may feel like you’re in a storm now, but the sun always returns. You deserve the light”
As I walked out of the woods to my car the rain started up again, and I smiled. I know I have one mother who sees me, understands who I am, and looks out for me.
